Water has been approved and permitted!!! All of the pipes for the fire sprinkler system internal to the library are in place, now we need to tunnel across to the high school to get some water. This required much jumping through hoops, but our great building team pulled it off!
Lots of walls going up, millwork starting soon. Below you can see the cozy new magazine area taking shape. This creates a wall facing the new service desk which will be used for display and interactive conversations with the community. The adult wing should start getting paint next week!
Walls are going up and detailed measurements are being taken to make sure our new cabinetry and millwork fit perfectly. Concrete work will begin this week on the interior (leveling floors, reinstalling restroom floor drains) and exterior (moving the book drop next to the mailbox). Wall installation and texturing will also continue. At a typical building meeting, we talk through a multi-page list of things that have to be figured out, like:
In the first photo, you can see the new shape of the peaked roof, the interior of which will be painted a soft blue/green and have drum pendant lighting in it. The original library had drum pendants in this spot, so this is a nod to our past! You can see fire equipment starting to be installed in the closet and main supply lines (black) spanning the ceiling in the picture below.
